When baby arrives earlier than expected, planning ahead makes all the difference.

One thing I've learned after photographing so many newborns over the years is that babies don't always arrive on the timeline we expect!

This sweet baby girl arrived almost 3 weeks before her due date, and I was so thankful her family had already reserved their newborn session during pregnancy. Because we had everything planned ahead of time, I was able to adjust my calendar and photograph her within those precious early newborn days.

That is exactly why I always recommend booking your newborn session before your baby arrives. Having your date reserved gives us flexibility if plans change and helps ensure we don't miss the best window for newborn portraits.

For traditional newborn photography, the ideal age is usually between 8 and 16 days old, when babies are often sleepiest and still have those adorable newborn curls and stretches that disappear so quickly.

These first days go by in the blink of an eye. One moment they're tiny enough to fit perfectly in your arms, and before you know it, they've already changed.

It was such a joy to spend the morning with this beautiful family and capture these memories in the place where their newest chapter is beginning.
